The ultimate blacksmithing experience course, Learn the ancient art of sword making under the tuition of Master Blacksmith William Holland and his team and make your very own medieval arming sword. This 3 day course will cover all of the techniques needed to be able to forge your very own sword.

On the three-day course we follow a set pattern of a 12th century arming sword with some time for personalisation of the cross guard and pommels, The materials are cut in advance and ready to go straight in the forge and to work hammering and shaping the materials, with demonstrations of all the processes along the way.

If you are looking to design and make something unique to yourself the 5-day course is the best one to pick as the extra two days gives us the necessary time to customise each part and finish them to a high standard.

The three day class is split in to the different stages which include;

• Blade geometry, forging and forming
• Heat treatment

• Hilt design and hot forging
• Blade grinding and sharpening techniques,
• Handle design, material selection and function,
• Final assembly,

By the end of the three days you will have covered all of the techniques not just in theory but in practice, with ample time and tuition to turn theory in to reality. Everything required to come away with your very own fully functional sword or battle ready reenactment sword.

Under 18's must be accompanied by a guardian.Not suitable for under 16's

Please ensure that you have the physical strength and capacity to stand on your feet for a full day as this class is physical and runs at a faster pace than the 5 day sword class.
