The ultimate blacksmithing experience course, Learn the ancient art of sword making under the tuition of Master Blacksmith William Holland. This 5 day course will cover all of the techniques needed to be able to forge your very own sword and finish it, to the highest standard with no prior experience necessary.

The five day class gives us a lot more elbow room than the compact 3 day class, It also gives you the choice to select the sword design or create your own design. We have quite a few examples if you wish to copy a standard pattern from a gladius, arming sword, Langseax, Katana or even a cutlass you have the choice to craft your own masterpiece. The five day class gives us the time to lets us really refine each component and spend more one on one time demonstrating and coaching the participents to ensure they have a piece they are proud of ready to take home with them on the last day.

The five day class is split in to the different stages which include;

• Blade design; geometry, forging and forming
• Heat treatment

• Hilt design and hot forging
• Fullering techniques
• Blade grinding and sharpening techniques,
• Handle design, material selection and function,
• Final assembly and protective finishes.

By the end of the five days you will have covered all of the techniques not just in theory but in practice, with ample time and tuition to turn theory in to reality. Everything required to come away with your very own fully functional live sword or battle ready reenactment sword.

Under 18's must be accompanied by a guardian. Not Suitable for under 16's unless they are built like an out house.

We do recommend coming along to one of our one day classes if you haven't done any smithing before bu this is not compulsary and we will show you all of the stages and help where necessary.
