William Holland has been working iron for over 25 years. He is a Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths (FWCB) — one of fewer than 200 in the UK — a qualification that reflects not just technical skill but a mastery of the entire craft, from design through to installation.
Phoenix Forge is based at Mile End Farm in Trevaughan, Carmarthen — a purpose-built forge on a working farm in the heart of West Wales. It's not a showroom. It's a working forge where every commission is designed, forged, finished and dispatched.
Phoenix Forge is a small team of skilled craftsmen led by William. Every commission is designed by William and executed by the team under his direction — no outsourcing, no middlemen. You deal directly with Phoenix Forge from the first call to the day it's installed.
The work covers the full range of architectural and commercial ironwork: driveway gates, estate railings, balconies and balustrades, staircases, agricultural and structural fabrication, and blacksmithing classes for individuals and groups.
The team has worked with architects, developers, estate agents, barn conversion specialists, private homeowners, farmers and historic property trusts. Phoenix Forge is equally at ease designing contemporary composite gates for a new build or replicating period ironwork for a listed farmhouse — the common thread is care and quality of execution.
Phoenix Forge is also one of the most established blacksmithing experience providers in Wales, running classes from knife making to sword making. These are run by our craftsmen in the same forge where the commercial work is made — not a separate "experience shed".
